About STARK Studio Rugs: A hand knotted or hand woven rug represents the remarkable achievement of many highly skilled artisans. There are few, if any, other items you can purchase for your home on which more care and handwork has been lavished. Every stage of this ancient craft, from spinning the wool to trimming the pile of the finished rug, is carried out by hand – not out of stubbornness, but because there is no better way of making a rug.

        Material / Ingredients / Care
        • If your rug has been rolled or folded for shipping, it may have creases. Creases should disappear within 1-2 weeks when laid flat. Reverse rolling the rug overnight will help. All wool rugs will shed. Shedding will subside over time, depending on traffic and wear. It typically takes 20-25 vacuums to curtail shedding. If you’ve purchased a handmade rug, loose fibers or sprouts are a normal part of the break-in process of the rug. To remove, use scissors to clip them even with the pile. Do not pull the fiber out. If exposed to direct sunlight, rug colors typically fade over time, even if they are fade-resistant. In the case of handmade rugs, slight color variation is common, as dye lots may change over a period of time. As a general rule, rugs of all materials and constructions should be rotated every 3-6 months to balance color and evenly distribute wear. Maintenance of your rug: Vacuum regularly using the handheld attachment or a vacuum without a beater bar. Clean any spills immediately. We recommend you have your rug professionally cleaned on an annual basis.
